1. a nonalcoholic drink consisting of a mixture of fruit juices or other soft drinks.
Summertime elicits thoughts of late night strolls, swimming pools, eating al fresco and partaking in a refreshing cocktail. Three for four isn’t so bad, is it? I say it is! Just because this girls prego doesn’t mean she wants to miss out on a specially concocted beverage!
I thought to myself, surely there are others out there who would appreciate some creative nonalcoholic drink recipes! So I bring you Mocktail Month!
This first recipe I am sharing with you I developed on an unusually hot day later last fall. Folks were already in full autumnal baking mode so I knew sharing a recipe for an agua fresca would be falling on deaf ears. I’ve kept this in my back pocket just waiting for the right time to share.
An Agua Fresca is a drink made with water, pureed fruit and a sweetener (and whatever other add-ins) popular in Mexico and Central America. I love food and drink concepts where your flavor imagination can go wild.
Hibiscus itself already has a very tangy, fruity quality. Pairing it with the more familiar strawberry balances the two flavors nicely, and a pinch of mint gives you that nice “ahhh” factor.
I’ll be back next week with Part 2 of Mocktail Month.
